Are you enjoying this moment?

Are you really enjoying this now moment? Are you? Are you present enough and taking it all in, right now?

It's an interesting question isn't it, especially if it registers enough so that we stop for this now moment and take it all in. I've discovered that you can actually fall in love with this stuff you know. Fall in love with this. With now. With whatever this is. And when you get glimpses of this, you wonder why you've been running around like a chicken without its head all your life when it's all right here, right before your eyes.

When I find myself present, it makes me realize how much of my life I've been running around, doing stuff and not being present. And then what are those memories? You think of good times when you weren't really present, weren't really there, didn't really savor the life that was yours. And then it's gone. Puff!

And why? Was it because we were scared? Or worried that we weren't good enough or it wasn't good enough or it wasn't going to turn and right? And then what happened? It happened and it is now gone. Done. Over. Dissolved back into the nothingness from which it came.

Well I guess if we can see that... if we can see what we were doing before, we are now awake enough to be present with this now moment. And the next now moment. And the next.

Isn't this a blessed day! Isn't THIS blessed!

Love you. Barbara

Every day wisdom

I call it every day wisdom because it’s not just everyday wisdom but every day wisdom. And by that I mean, it’s not just ordinary wisdom but it’s wisdom we have to practice every day. Especially if we suffer from anxiety.

So what is every day wisdom? It’s the wisdom to know that we have to keep coming back to this now moment over and over again. It’s the wisdom to know there is no final solution, no cure that is for always, but rather a cure that is only for now. And when you think about it, you realize that it can only be now. When else could it be? When else can we feel ok? When else can we experience this moment, the goodness of this moment, except now? So this is the ordinary wisdom that we who suffer from anxiety have to learn and have to keep re-learning each and every day. Especially because we are people who have somehow (for various reasons) allowed ourselves to be drawn into catastrophic thinking and then find ourselves panicking here and now because we’re imagining something happening in a future we in reality can know absolutely nothing about. The only cure for this is to bring yourself back to now. The only cure for this is to keep understanding, over and over again, what you are doing – to become aware of what you are doing and then to stop yourself from doing it. And this is something we can do. When we see ourselves spiralling into catastrophic thinking, we can say to ourselves, “OK, I can see what I’m doing now and I’m not going to do it anymore. I’m just going to stop and shift my focus to now.” This is what we can do every day, every time it happens. Every time we find ourselves wandering away from this moment, we can bring ourselves back by noticing what we’re doing and noticing what’s happening now. And This we can keep doing, over and over again.

Hallelujah!

The great revolution in consciousness that is taking place today for so many of us is this - we are realizing that our happiness is not dependent on outer circumstances but on inner circumstances. Do you realize what good news this is? It means that you can do something about it! It means that you can work on it. It means you no longer believe that you are the victim of outer circumstances. You might still be doing a lot of stuff that you are not conscious of - but the good news is that you CAN become conscious of what you are doing and then do something about it.

For more about all this and what you can do - all by yourself - read my books The Road to Power / Fast Food for the Soul book 1 and book 2.

And let's celebrate... Lots of love, Barbara

What if Life itself was your lover?

We're all searching for that Perfect Lover. The One who never deserts us and who always supports us and who gives us everything we need all the time. Because we feel that if we could just find that Perfect Lover, we'd never be lonely or unhappy again.

Well what if Life itself is our Perfect Lover? What if that's what we're supposed to wake up to... Just think about it. The one thing we always have is Life, Life itself regardless of whether we're young or old, fat or thin, rich or poor, beautiful or ugly, healthy or sick. We all have this one thing - Life! It's really an amazing thing to contemplate in the course of waking up. Because when you do wake up - each and every morning - do you notice that Life is there for you? And that you didn't have to do anything to deserve it? You didn't have to be good, you didn't have to be nice or intelligent or kind or anything at all. You just woke up and had Life.

I was thinking that if I could really get this realization under my skin and KNOW IT... well I'd always be at peace. What about you?

All the things I want in my Perfect Lover, well Life does... Here's my list:

Life is always supportive / Life is always there for me / Life never leaves me / Life gives me everything / Life is never boring / Life is always entertaining / Life can embrace all of me / Life has no expectations to me / Life is there for me no matter what I do / Life doesn't care if I look good or not / Life doesn't care if I'm fat, thin, young, old, rich, poor, intelligent, stupid, sick, healthy... Life is just always here... going everywhere with me... standing by me....

Confidence in Life

Do you have confidence in Life? Confidence that Life will do what it's supposed to do and take you where you are supposed to go? It's really interesting to think about.

Here's what I've discovered. All our fears are a sign of lack of confidence. All our fears - and anxieties and worries. The whole lot. It's all us saying we don't trust Life. We don't believe in Life, we don't have confidence in Life.  I've also noticed that people have confidence in different areas and lack confidence in other areas. So it's not black and white. It's not either total confidence or total lack of confidence. But try noticing where you have confidence and where you don't.

Do you have confidence in your ability to attract money and pay your bills? Or is that a problem area for you? Do you have confidence in your health and your body and feel Life is a wonderful adventure for you to explore or do you worry constantly about your health? And what about your relationships and your ability to get along with other people? Do you have confidence that people will like you and trust you or what?

No matter what the area where you lack confidence, the cure is alway the same... looking at Life itself directly and understanding that if God is All and God is Good - that means that you will be taken care of. Maybe not in the way you think you "should" be taken care of or in the way you'd like to be taken care of... but if God is All and God is Good then there is a plan for you too... a perfect plan that is always taking you up higher. Can you see the ways?

If you are curious about the logic behind God is All and God is Good - you can find an explanation in my book Mental Technology (The 10 Mental Laws) in the second part of the book. The book is online free in my previous blog of June 12, 2007, but here's the link anyway....

Talk tomorrow

Hi friends... if you live in the Copenhagen area, Tim and I will be giving a talk tomorrow afternoon at the Lyngby Culture Center at 3 pm.  (3 pm to 4.30 pm)

We're going to talk about "getting real" in terms of our relationships. And I've developed a "getting real" exercise we're all going to do. It should be fun.

Hope to see you tomorrow.

Love, Barbara

Everyone and Everything prospers me now!

One of my good friends called me last night in a bit panic about money. He's a freelancer like me and his bank account is almost empty. He was spiralling into catastrophic thinking so I tried to get him to come back to the present moment instead of picturing himself homeless, pushing his shopping cart around Copenhagen with all his belongings.

I really understand how he feels because I've lived as a freelancer my whole life too...  So it made me think of my own good advice to myself whenever I find myself spiralling into gloom and doom.

Here's what I tell myself. I say... Barbara, it's important to focus on this moment - on the NOW - on reality. And right now your refrigerator is full of food and you are in fact just finishing up an assignment and you did pay your rent. So right now, the reality is the Universe REALLY IS SUPPORTING YOU. That's the reality. That's what's really going on.

Then the next thing I ask myself is what can I realistically do TODAY to generate new business or new contacts to ensure that money keeps coming to me. And then I get busy doing that. And try to stay focused on today, on this moment, on the Goodness of NOW.

Then the next thing I do is always read something spiritual and uplifting about the abundant supply that is at all times available to all of us.

And finally, I choose some affirmations that feel right to me and say then throughout my day. Some of my favorite prosperity affirmations are:

Everyone and Everything prospers me now.

I give thanks that Divine Substance sustains and prospers me now.

Money comes to me from all directions!

The walls of lack and delay / Now crumble away / and I enter my promised land / under grace in perfect ways.   (Florence Shovel Shinn)

I call upon Divine Love to perform any miracle needed in this situation!

The Lord is my Shepherd, I shall now want! (Read the whole psalm)

And then I go about my day, trusting in the Goodness of Life.

Hope this helps!

Relationships suck!

I'm supposed to give a talk on Saturday about relationships so I was thinking about what I was going to talk about - and you know what came to mind? Relationships suck!

Now what in the world could make me think something like that? Well it was because I was thinking that since we're not clear, how can we possibly expect to have good relationships? I mean our relationships are just a reflection of our own state of consciousness and since most of us haven't got a clue, how can our relationships be good?

Well you might be saying, some of us do have good relationships. And yes, I'd say, some of us do. But if you look closely you'll discover that the people who have what we call good relationships - usually have relationships with someone who agrees with them. That's probably the definition of a good relationship - when 2 people agree. The minute they stop agreeing, the relationship usually ends. Unless of course they are very very high in consciousness!

So what can we do? Well I guess the only thing we can do is try to get clear ourselves. Try to wake up and see what's really going on. Why do I say this - because most of us don't know who we are or what's going on or what we want  ... and if we do we're probably not honest enough to ask!

So I guess what I'm going to say is that as long as we go on looking for answers out there in other people instead of in here in us... well... then our relationships are going to suck!

Category 3 stuff

Apropos my recent blog about planning ahead...  I got some comments which make me want to write a little more about what I mean about planning ahead and commiting to stuff in the future.

I usually say there are 3 categories of stuff. Category 1 is the stuff you absolutely have to do for survival (like work and pay your rent).  Category 2 is the stuff you really want to do because it's what you love and what makes your heart sing.

Category 3 is all the inbetween stuff. And by inbetween stuff I mean all the stuff you don't absolutely have to do. Category 3 is stuff you think you "should" do or stuff you think other people think you "should" do. Or category 3 could be stuff you think you "could" do if you had time or stuff you "might" do... in other words it's not stuff you absolutely must do and it's not stuff you love to do.

Now if you are stressed and you look at your life, I guarantee you that you have lots of category 3 stuff in your life and that's why you are stressed. I have found that a great way to make life better and cut down on stress is to start by eliminating the category 3 stuff. It's amazing what happens when you do that. It's also an amazing process to just identify all the stuff you are doing and find out which category the stuff belongs in.

And then take a really really good look at all the category 3 stuff in your life. Is there any of it that you really need to do? How about being good to yourself for a change and drop category 3 for a while and see what happens! This also removes a lot of the problems around planning ahead because there is so much stuff you're simply not going to be doing anymore!
